Chelsea clearly see the Inter match as a tough one, summed up by German international midfielder Michael Ballack. "We have unfortunately, as group winners, been given the toughest draw possible," he said, "but that doesn't bother us - we are looking forward to it, also because the former manager Jose Mourinho is coming. He still knows us all very well and that gives this game a special explosiveness."
Jose Mourinho’s influence on the English game is still strong. The Chelsea squad he faces as Inter Milan manager was largely built by him, so he will have an intimate level of knowledge to draw upon as he prepares for Wednesday’s clash. Carlo Ancelotti, on the other hand, spent eight years as manager of Inter’s rivals AC Milan, sharing a city and a stadium. Although his knowledge of his opponents may not be as deep as Mourinho’s, he will be no stranger to tactics and atmosphere as he revisits the San Siro.
