Sixth place Manchester City host fifth place Aston Villa this weekend as both clubs vie for a fourth-place finish and Champions League action next season.
Manchester City’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend was a costly one.
Having acquired just a single point from the draw, City were unable to take full advantage of fourth place Tottenham, who’s 3-1 loss to Manchester United earlier in the day had rendered them vulnerable to a fourth-place takeover bid.
The consequences could be very large indeed. If City fail to finish fourth they lose out on the potential financial windfall a Champions League campaign promises.
