Lance Armstrong : Cycling Legends wallpaper


Lance Armstrong (born Lance Edward Gunderson on September 18, 1971) is an American professional road racing cyclist who rides for UCI ProTeam Team Astana. He won the Tour de France a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005.
He is the only individual to win seven times, having broken the previous record of five wins, shared by Miguel Indurain and Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx and Jacques Anquetil. He has survived testicular cancer, a tumor that metastasized to his brain and lungs, in 1996. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery and extensive chemotherapy, and his prognosis was originally poor. (wikipedia)

Robert Millar : Cycling Legend wallpaper


Robert Millar (born 13 September 1958) is a former Scottish professional cyclist who won the “King of the Mountains” competition in the 1984 Tour de France and finished fourth overall – the highest Tour position for a British cyclist, and the first time a Briton had won a major Tour classification. He also achieved the highest finish by a Briton in the Giro d'Italia, finishing second in the 1987 event and winning the King of the Mountains classification too. He was a vegetarian. Millar remains the only rider from an English speaking country to have won the Tour De France King of the Mountains title. He is not related to fellow Scot David Millar. (wikipedia)

Fausto Coppi : Cycling Legends wallpaper


Angelo-Fausto Coppi, (born in Castellania, Italy, 15 September 1919, died in Tortona, Italy, 2 January 1960), was the dominant international cyclist of the years each side of the second world war. His successes earned him the title Il Campionissimo, or champion of champions. He was an all-rounder racing cyclist, he was the best in both climbing and time trialing, and was also a great sprinter. He won five times the Giro d'Italia (1940, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953), twice the Tour de France (1949 and 1952), race disputed only three times by Coppi. He also won the World Championship in 1953, the Giro di Lombardia in 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1954, the Milan-Sanremo in 1946, 1948 and 1949, the Paris-Roubaix and the La Flèche Wallonne in 1950 and set the hour record (45.798 km) in 1942. Edouard Louis Joseph, Baron Merckx ['merks] (born 17 June 1945, Meensel-Kiezegem, Vlaams Brabant, Belgium, is a Belgian former professional cyclist. The French magazine Vélo called him "the most accomplished rider that cycling has ever known." The American publication, VeloNews, called him the greatest and most successful cyclist of all time. He won the Tour de France five times, won all the classics except Paris-Tours, won the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España, won the world championship as an amateur and a professional, and broke the world hour record.
