Man City still keen on Lescott

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has not given up the chase for Joleon Lescott.
City have had two bids rejected for the Everton central defender but are still keen to secure his services.

Hughes denied reports he had walked away from the saga after his managerial counterpart David Moyes slated his behaviour.

"We are not at that point at this moment," said the City boss. "When we feel there is nowhere else to go and it is not going to happen, then we will walk away.

Hughes is still in the market for fresh faces before the window closes. He said: "We are just trying to go about our business and bring good players to the club.

Moyes has described City's attempts to lure Lescott to Eastlands as "disgusting" but, despite rejecting the player's transfer request and offers of £15 million and £19 million from City, the Everton manager appears to have made the England defender's departure inevitable by dropping him from the first-team squad and denouncing his "poor attitude" this week.

Moyes's condemnation of City's behaviour throughout the Lescott saga mirrored similarly critical observations of the Abu Dhabi-backed club by rival Premier League managers this summer.
